RIO DE JANEIRO, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Everaldo Stum scored late as Fluminense recovered from a goal down to clinch a 2-1 home victory over Sport Recife in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.
Pablo Teixeira fired the visitors ahead in the 24th minute with a bullet header after Lucas Lima's cross from the left wing.
The hosts equalized on the hour through Colombian forward Kevin Serna, who combined with compatriot Jhon Arias to head home from close range.
Arias tormented Sport on the right wing and the 27-year-old was again the orchestrator as he sent an inch-perfect cross for Everaldo to head in at the far post in the 97th minute.
"Sport was the better team in the first half but we made some changes at the break and came out with a better attitude in the second half," Fluminense manager Renato Gaucho told a post-match press conference.
"We fought and kept pushing for the result. We were rewarded at the end of the game for the effort we put in."
Fluminense is now fourth in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A standings with 13 points, 11 ahead of last-placed Sport.
Elsewhere in Brazil's Serie A on Saturday, Bahia won 1-0 at home to Botafogo, Corinthians registered a 4-2 home victory over Internacional and Ceara prevailed 1-0 at home to Vitoria. ■
