WARSAW, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Three massive unexploded bombs dating back to World War II were lifted from the bottom of the Baltic Sea close to the resort town of Kolobrzeg, north-western Poland on Monday.

Hundreds of people living in proximity were evacuated but later allowed to return to their homes.

Three unexploded bombs and two objects of unknown origin were lifted by a team of bomb disposal experts and divers. Several hundred policemen and firefighters took part in the removal effort in addition to bomb disposal experts and soldiers.

According to spokespeople working at the site, there are no more unexploded objects in the area. The three bombs, which were "potentially dangerous", were removed in good shape, including explosives and detonators. Two of them were about 250 kg.

The bombs are expected to be detonated at a military exercise site in the town of Drawsko Pomorskie.

The bombs were found a few days ago by a policeman. On Saturday, an emergency management center was established by the Kolobrzeg authorities.
