NEW DELHI, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Japan is one of the most trusted partners in India's economic and technological modernisation and one of the top investors in the country, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a statement issued ahead of his two-day visit to Japan beginning Sunday.

During the visit, Modi will hold the annual summit talks with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.

Projects like "Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail" and "dedicated freight corridors" reflected the high level and strength of India-Japan economic engagement, said Modi.

"Japan is also at the forefront of engaging in our national initiatives, such as 'Make in India', 'Skill India', 'Digital India', 'Start Up India', etc."

According to Modi, Japan is India's valued partner and both sides have a special strategic and global partnership. "India-Japan's partnership is of great substance and purpose which rests on the strong pillars of India's 'Act East Policy'," he said.

During his visit, Modi will hold talks with Abe and interact with Japanese business leaders.
