CAIRO, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Amnesty International's (AI) statement on the torture of children in Egypt is not based on "tangible evidence and lacks accuracy," the country's State Information Service (SIS) said in a statement on Thursday.

The international rights group said on Tuesday that Egypt has committed "shocking violations" against children, including torture and enforced disappearance.

The AI said it has documented at least six children who were tortured in custody, and 12 who were subjected to enforced disappearance since 2015.

"As for the allegations of their enforced disappearance, no reliable evidence was provided to validate such claims, neither were they provided to prove torture allegations for that matter," the SIS statement said.

The Egyptian authorities have abided by the standards emphasized by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as it has offered the necessary guarantees of justice in this contest, it said.

The SIS urged the AI to be more accurate while relaying allegations of human rights violations in Egypt.

The SIS also called upon the AI not to take part in the systematic politicized smear campaigns that aim to damage the image of Egypt locally and abroad through releasing such statements.
