HARARE, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The following are the major news highlights in Zimbabwe's major news outlets on Thursday.

-- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has with immediate effect dissolved the ZANU-PF Harare and Bulawayo provincial structures and a way forward will be announced in due course.

Further, an alleged petition purporting to pass a vote of no confidence in some members of the national Youth League was declared null and void. (The Herald)

-- Senior government officials from South Africa arrived in Zimbabwe Wednesday for preparatory meetings of the third session of the Zimbabwe-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) amid indications that the 400 million U.S. dollars National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) deal will be on the agenda.

The BNC, to be held next Tuesday, will be co-chaired by President Mnangagwa and his South African counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa, coming hard on the heels of a similar fixture between Zimbabwe and Botswana last week. (The Herald)

-- Police in Mutawatawa, Mashonaland East province, have arrested an elderly Pfungwe man for allegedly axing his wife, accusing her of recklessly using grocery without putting into consideration the current economic challenges.

Patricia Nyauziyo (41) of Siyakurima village, under Chief Chitsungo was rushed to Mutawatawa District Hospital by villagers after she was struck with an axe on the forehead by her husband Fanuel Madzonzoni following a dispute over groceries.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident and said the suspect was charged with attempted murder. (Newsday) Enditem
